2006 Minnesota State Fair
"The Great Minnesota Get-Together"

Stacy and I made our two visits to the MN State Fair this year. Above are some of the photographs we took. As you may remember, I proposed to Stacy at the fair last year, so it holds some sentimental value to us and I look forward to returning, Lord willing, every year.

New to the fair this year was a brand new Miracle of Birth building. It was much larger than the old one, containing more animals and several flat panel TVs showing previously recorded births. New fair foods included beer-battered bratwurst, hot dish on a stick, and cold cereal bars. There were many others, but my memory doesn't allow an exact recollection. Of course, the fair food staples were there, including: cheese curds, deep-fried candy bars on a stick, deep-fried pickles, walleye on a stick, fresh cut fries, Sweet Martha's cookies, roasted corn, cotton candy, shaved ice, Pronto Pups, and the list could go on and on.

We watched AM1500's Garage Logic with Joe Soucheray for a while, walked through several vendor displays, looked at new cars, watched the IronJacks perform lumberjack games, observed birds of prey in action, and enjoyed the ample people watching opportunities. Our unofficial first date 2 years ago was going to the fair to see the Talent Show Finals, so we had to do that too.

We had a great time and enjoyed the company of some good friends. We're already looking forward to 2007!
